The meeting opened looking at the Staying Safe National Indicators and the progress made to the Project SAFE and its action plan. This was followed by looking at the Outcomes for Children in Care which indicated an increase in attendance but the attainment is below the national average. A report presented information on the seven main areas for Education and Safeguarding. Reports were also issued on the Information Sharing and Assessment Project, the NHS Barking and Dagenham Safeguarding Intervention Team and the Children and Young Peoples Plan. Finally the Association of Chief Police Officers & Young Children Business Area has developed a Strategy for the Police in relation to addressing the needs of young people within our communities.

In this meeting the final draft Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy amd the joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy were approved. A briefing was presented on the work to improve the vaccination uptake levels, recommending an action plan to achieve this. The Child and Adult Obesity Task Force presented a performance report with a number of recommendations including aligning budgets for youth focussed activities. In addition to this an update was presented on breastfeeding levels within the Borough, the Total Commissioning Programme, the Local Safeguarding Children Board and the performance report in line with national indicators. Finally information on the mandatory Joint Children's Trust Induction planned for May 2010 were provided.
