Letter to Government Depts on opening up data.
The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is an assessment of the health and wellbeing needs of a local area. Since 2007 it has been a statutory duty for primary care trusts and local authorities to undertake this assessment.
It is intended to provide a shared, evidence based, consensus about key local priorities and support commissioning to improve health and wellbeing outcomes and reduce health inequalities. In practice, the JSNA process is led by the Joint Director of Public Health, the Corporate Director of Adult and Community Services and the Corporate Director of Children’s Services.
The Borough Commissioners, Clinical Commissioning Committee, Voluntary Sector and Clinical commissioning groups also contribute to the JSNA project and findings. This is the fourth JSNA from the Barking and Dagenham Partnership.
