Subjects for the Summer 2010 conference?

Postby marktyson » Wed Feb 24, 2010 11:38 am

What would you want to spend a half-day exploring with other Partnership members? What's on your agenda this summer that you think will interest others? We're starting the planning for the conference and would like input on subjects, discussion themes, etc. Public Service Board will be making the final decisions, but it would be good to give them input from across the Partnership...

Over to you...?

We now have a provisional date for the conference as 1st July. That is a mere 98 days away. What are your ideas for what we could be discussing? :D

How about a theme around public buildings - we all have them, use them and/or need them - and with the large number of public buildings in the borough (the Council alone has well over 250) there must be opportunities to provide better services to our residents and make savings to the public purse.

Topics could include:

- Joining up front offices - so that residents can access a range of public services from one place
- Joining back office services - so that different agencies share office accomodation, saving money and encouraging more joined up working
- Community space - how to maximise assets such as halls, schools etc

Maps and other aids could be used to set out where everything is and encourage debate around hwo we could use public buildings better. And we could invite speakers from places like Kent and Worcetershire who have created joint approaches to public buildings in their areas...
