Geowise Instant Atlas
Public agencies make better decisions when they jointly assess, view and analyse data about people, services and issues.
"Greater transparency across Government is at the heart of our shared commitment to enable the public to hold politicians and public bodies to account..."
Letter to Government Depts on opening up data.
Geowise Instant Atlas is a tool that puts as much of that data online as possible, with safety systems to make sure it is held safely and only accessed by people with appropriate authority.
In the main, however, the data that we hold is information that everyone can see and use, especially when it is 'aggregated' up to ward or borough level. That's where Geowise comes in. Getting all the data we have available up on to the site and continuing to build its sophistication is a long process, and we are very much at the beginning, but in time this will be a key repository of vital information to help people from across the Partnership to submit bids for funding, plan service development, and understand the needs of our local population.

What you will find
When you go into Instant Atlas, the first screen you see will be:

You should select 'Data Views' on the left of the big buttons on the centre of the screen. This will take you to a screen showing a list of data options with '+' symbols next to them - use these to expand the lists and choose your data.

Selecting a data set will take you into a screen with maps, bar charts and data and you can hover your mouse over the map and see changing trends as you compare selected boroughs or wards (depending on the type of data available and the level that it is mapped to).

Some tips
If you click 'Choose Indicator' - top left - you can select different data from within the data view. Click on a borough (or ward), for example Barking & Dagenham, and hovering over other boroughs/wards on the map will give you comparators. If data over time is given, then you will see the trend graph change as well.
If you click print, you will be able to print out the page you are seeing, with maps and graphs included, for future reference.
Call for information
All agencies can contribute data to the Geowise Instant Atlas, so that the analysis possibilities can be as powerful as possible. If you would like to ensure that information that you hold is included, contact partnership@lbbd.gov.uk and someone from Joint Intelligence team will get back to you.
