Joint Intelligence Working Group

 Purpose of the group:

The Barking and Dagenham Joint Intelligence Working Group brings together information specialists from NHS Barking and Dagenham and the council to develop and implement a joint intelligence strategy across the partnership.  They aim to share intelligence and information across the partnership, reduce the duplication of work, to use the skills available appropriately, to drive commissioning and to achieve clarity of understanding.

To do this, they share information (within data protection guidelines).  Each organisation will work as an equal partner to agree and deliver core joint intelligence services in accordance with the decisions of the working group. The working group is led by the Health Improvement directorate and reports into the Policy and Resources Panel.

  Principle functions:

  •  To develop a joint intelligence strategy for the Barking and Dagenham Partnership.
  •  To monitor and review the implementation of this strategy through the development of appropriate sub-groups.
  •  To ensure data protection protocols are followed, while promoting smart data sharing where possible. This refers to the North East London information sharing protocol, subsequently the Pan-London protocol.
  • To improve patient /client experience through proactive communication between service groups.
  •  To establish priorities for funding bids and service proposals.
  •  To prioritise areas of joint working around needs assessments and discrete data projects.
  •  To work collaboratively to ensure the sustainability of intelligence projects.
  •  To ensure consistency of analytic formats and approved approaches.
  •  To identify appropriate leads to resolve data issues across the partnership.
  •  To assist emergency planning and business continuity plans with respect to information provision.
  •  To keep an up-to-date directory of datasets held by service areas.
  •  To address gaps in information provision.
  •  To be the 'data owners' for the Experian project. Representatives from each service area are responsible for the refresh of the data from respective areas.
  •  To be responsible for version control monitoring of the Experian material across the organisations.

People who want information from the group should use the data request form that is saved in the document library.
