Non-executive directors wanted for NHS Trust

Barking, Havering and Redbridge (BHR) University Hospitals NHS Trust are looking for three outstanding Non-executive Directors to help the Trust achieve Foundation Trust status.


Background 

BHR University Hospitals NHS Trust operates across two main sites at Queen’s and King George Hospital as well as peripheral sites at Barking, Dagenham and Brentwood. The Trust serves a population of around 750,000 people, from a wide range of social and ethnic groups, and is one of the largest Acute Hospital Trusts in England, employing over 5000 staff.

The Trust is looking to achieve Foundation Trust status. NHS Foundation Trusts are a key part of the reform programme in the NHS. They are autonomous organisations with greater freedom to decide how to improve their services and can retain any surpluses they generate, or borrow money to support these investments. These freedoms mean NHS Foundation Trusts can better shape their healthcare services around local needs and priorities.


Who are BHR University Hospitals NHS Trust looking for? 

The Trust is looking for three outstanding individuals to serve as Non-executive Directors:

Post 1
Finance experience gained at a senior level in a large and complex organisation with an accountancy qualification.

Post 2 and Post 3
Commercial experience at senior level; bringing both governance and private sector expertise.
and/or
Governance experience; bringing experience of strategic planning, financial, risk and performance management.

Preference will be given to candidates who live in the Barking, Havering and Redbridge area, or have strong connections with the area.
