Children & Young People's Plan 2011 - 2016

What is the Children and Young People Plan?

Barking and Dagenham Children's Services and our partners are working together to improve the lives of children, young people and their families.

We are determined to deliver high quality services for all children, young people and their families in the borough, to help them achieve their ambitions and to promote better life chances.

The Children and Young People Plan (CYPP) is the key strategic plan for Barking and Dagenham's Children's Trust. It sets out how all the organisations in Barking and Dagenham will work together to make services better and improve the lives of children and young people.

It is also part of the wider strategic planning for the borough which is overseen by the Barking and Dagenham Partnership.

Children and Young People Plan 2011-16

The Children's Trust has developed our new draft Children and Young People's Plan for 2011-16 for informal consultation. This plan sets how the Council and partners will continue to work together to improve outcomes for children, young people and families in the borough.

This will be achieved by commissioning services to address locally identified needs, integrating provision, focusing on early intervention, safeguarding, and mitigating the effects of child poverty.

The Children's Trust is the guardian of the Children and Young People's Plan and will monitor and review the progress made.

The CYPP is a call for change and a plan for action.  The Plan has been informed by an extensive needs analysis and consultation and will run for 5 years up to 2016.  The Plan concentrates on key areas where we believe working together will make a bigger difference, setting out the two over-arching strategic objectives agreed at our last Away Day (31 January 2011) and our top five priority areas.  The Plan will be underpinned by detailed joint commissioning and implementation plans to deliver the agreed outcomes.  These plans will be developed once the Plan and the overall priorities have been formally agreed by the Trust.
