The Barking and Dagenham Partnership has agreed to establish an overarching Local Strategic Partnership Board, to help provide a greater focus across the Partnership for the big, strategic issues for the borough. The Board will act as a forum for lobbying on the things that matter most locally, aiming to achieve maximum impact for local residents and businesses by acting together where appropriate.
The Local Strategic Partnership Board will have over 40 members working at a senior and strategic level in all sectors of the borough. Working together, the Board will help to develop a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities that face the people of Barking and Dagenham. The Board will not be a decision making body but will aim to form a consensus in identifying and resolving issues.
The types of topics that we intend to cover in the coming months may include:
- How we can increase household income for borough residents
- The impact of being a Host Borough for the Olympics
- How we can better use our resources in the borough
- Prioritisation of the few big issues we will work together on – and keeping track to ensure they are achieved
It is intended to ensure these meetings are not too formal or surrounded by excessive paperwork to allow more interactive discussion of the key issues for the borough.
