Peace Awards 2010 

On Tuesday 21st September, the 2010 Peace Awards were held at Valence House. All the stars from His Worshipful, the Mayor, Cllr Nirmal Singh Gill to Chief Executive of LBBD David Woods were out for this glitzy awards evening.

LBBD and the Volunteer Bureau hosted this awards ceremony as part of the London Week of Peace. The theme of Peace Week 2010 was "Giving Back" and the focus on what evryone can do together to make our borough safer and stronger.

The Award winners were:

  • The Cleaner, Greener Award (presented by David Woods) - David Hanks and Jim Beaman
  • The Award for Supporting a Fair and Respectful Community (presented by Cllr Butt from the Borough's Safer and Stronger Select Committee) - Angie Reynolds
  • The Safer Borough Award (presented by Chief Inspector Richard Goodwin) - the Youth Offender Panel comprising of Pam Watling, Andrew Philips, Royston Dawswell, Ieva Ezerskyte, Esther Oladimieji and Ruta Kazakeviciute
  • The Building a Healthy Borough Award (presented by Stephen Langford Chief Executive of NHS Barking & Dagenham) - Denis Riley
  • The Inspired Young People Award (presemted by Cllr Jeanne Alexander) - Michaela Sharpley
  • The Long Service Award (presented by Joan Brandon from the Volunteer Bureau) - Fred Green
  • The Award for Outstanding Contribution (presented by the Mayor) - Roy Wood
