A few words from David Woods, Corporate Director of Customer Services at LBBD and Chair of the Stronger Borough Board

David WoodsAs chair of the Stronger Borough Board I am proud to be leading a team of people from across the partnership who are working to build a stronger borough in Barking and Dagenham.
In particular, we are working to increase the proportion of people who feel:

  • that people from different backgrounds get on well together here
  • they can influence local decisions
  • local people treat each other with respect and consideration

Barking and Dagenham is a borough that faces many challenges. It is also one where we can be proud of our heritage, and of the great work that people in the community do to make this a better place. We know that by working together we can do even more.
Work we are doing as a Stronger Borough Board to contribute to this includes:

  • Sharing effort and expertise across organisations in the way we communicate with the public, so that local people can better know what is going on
  • Bringing together work to engage and consult with local people to ensure this is done as effectively as possible
  • Developing opportunities for older and younger people to come together and build understanding
  • Creating local community activities that bring people from different backgrounds together
